Rarotonga (or a little piece of paradise)

We landed the day before we left New Zealand ... its great crossing the date line. You feel like you can get back those hours you have wasted doing something pointless. Unfortunately we were sat on the wrong side of the plane so did not see the island as we landed but as the crystal blue waters and luscious hills came into view, we were giddy with excitement.
We were finally picked up by our backpackers place and checked in, the room was tiny and 200'c in temperature. It was right on the beach and the pool seemed nice. We headed to buy some dinner at the local shop up the road and met a guy who offered us some of his freshly caught tuna also (which was gorgeous). Neither of us were that enamoured with our choice of hostel but we decided to get out for a while and have a dusk walk along the beach. Beautiful bungalows were entwined between the palm trees. For a laugh we enquired how much one of the bungalows would be a night, we were told $300NZ ! We were paying $49NZ so a little steep. As we carried on walking we saw anothe place however this one had a little bar. The lady there offered to show us around a couple of the bungalows, which she said were $250/320NZ / night depening on the size of the unit, however as we were about to head off she offered us 50% discount... now this was tempting. Given the bungalows were self contained with a fridge, litle kitchen, ensuite and TV, our minds started to whirl. Ok so it was over budget but they were very nice. As we walked back to shower before bed, the clincher came when we entered the shower to be confronted with 50 mosquiotes in each! Ryan was braver than me, I just got into bed and did a mixture of reading and swatting before we turned the light out. And I only had to tell the guys twice in the TV ounge to turn the volume down !
The decision was made.. we would move in the morning.
