India is CRAZY!

After a few relaxing days in Bristol, tying up loose ends and saying goodbye, we boarded our Virgin Atlantic flight to Delhi. It was a comfortable flight with good exit row seats but I must say the service is not up to BA standards. Landing in Delhi we found ourselves in a hot hazy and very busy city. On our drive from the airport I saw 5 lanes of traffic on a 3 lane road with cows interrupting the flow occasionally. In Delhi we found many touts constantly offering Tuc-Tuc or rickshaw rides and even after saying no to 5 or 6 in a row the next one would ask you the same question. The food has been generally quite good, though I have gotten a bit of Delhi Belly, and not nearly as spicy as I was expecting. The first two nights we ate at an absolutely fantastic restaurant though it broke the budget a bit I'm sure we can re-coup the $24 it cost us each night. Friday morning we had one of our most experiences yet. Our Indian Railways train which was scheduled to leave Delhi at 10:25 didn't end up leaving until 10:49 and while feeling the first symptoms of the previously mentioned Delhi Belly we arrived in Agra after 4 hours instead of 3. lets just say I was happy to find a nice hotel room with a clean bathroom. This morning in Agra we woke early to see the Taj Mahal and it was a sight to see. The marble work and scale of the place make it enjoyable to just stare at for a long time. It's unfortunate though that with all the care that is taken to keep the buildings and the immaculate gardens in excellent shape none of that pride seems to spill over into the rest of the town. We're glad of the experiences that we've had so far but hoping to get into some more remote places that are a bit less hectic. Given that the power and internet seems to cut here without warning I can't promise regular posts but please keep checking back often and add a coment if there's anything else you'd like to know.

I only started looking at your account of your journey on Friday last, having had a couple of busy weeks, but needless to say I am hooked. I like the way you write the account of your thoughts / experiences, keep it coming mate and best wishes to the pair of you.
