Countdown to takeoff: 4Days
We spent 3 years 5 months in Crawley and yesterday afternoon we drove out of town with some fond memories, especially in the previous 72 hours. For Sunday evening we were kindly invited to dinner by Katherine and Ben(A work associate of Sarah's and her partner that we'll be seeing in Brisbane for New Year). We had a great roast dinner, talked about both of our travels to come, and us moving home. It was really nice to spend some time with them outside of an office party setting as they are some some particularly fantastic people. Monday night, after spending a day working in London and having traumas with the sale of our house, Sarah met up with her brother on their way home and had a good sibling chat. Those occasions will be fewer and more far between in the future and I'm glad they're taking the opportunities they have.
Great Minds Think Alike
On our drive to work Tuesday morning Sarah said to me, "I'm going to lunch with Dani, Caz and Kat today." "Great!",I said, "I'm going to lunch at 1 with my old crew." Sarah replied,"tell me you're not going to 'Ask!' cause we are." "Um... we're going to... 'Ask!'... too." A good time was had by all anyway and we didn't intrude on each other. Later in the office I received some parting gifts including a new England football(soccer) jersey, a book on India and some rupees while Sarah's office arranged us a $150 gift certificate for the Sydney opera house. There were then lots of hugs and handshakes followed by many 'What are we going to do without you'. That night a few of my poker playing mates and I went down to the casino in Brighton, that we've all been to before but not in the last 6 months, for a final game. From the off my hands were hot and looked pretty good in front of the 80 starters. By the time it was down to the final 8 I had nearly half the chips in play but started to get tired and destruct. Ended up in 5th and took home £120, not bad for a £12 investment. Playing that long didn't get me home until 3am so when the movers arrived Wed morning at 7:30 I was a bit groggy but persevered. They made quick work of a nasty job and were gone by 10. That let Sarah and I finish up that last few bits and pieces around the house and get to Bristol for the 4pm England Football game.
