The next day we headed into to town for a wander, the town is a little pricey like Queentown but without the Louis Vuitton store! We had a picnic lunch on the park and watch the preparations for the following days Triathlon. We enjoyed a lazy day in the town and even had a look at their super cool cinema - it has sofa's for seats and holds
about 50 people. We thought it would be nice to go that evening if we stayed in town. We decided however to head off as we thought it would be super busy the next day as the triathlon started at 7am. We drove up the lake and past lake Hawea which was also stunning and headed to a DOC campground for the night by the top of lake Wanaka. I cooked an adventurous veg mash (only adventurous because of the space confines for cooking and washing up), After dinner we went for a walk by the lake and Ryan was teaching me to skim stones on the water and then we played cards until bedtime.

It is a cute little town and we arrived early enough to walk up to the base of the Glacier. It was really stunning for me to see one up close (Ryan of course is more used to this). We also watched as loads of helicopters flew above us as their are loads of tours that take you over this glacier, up to Franz Josef and even over to Mt Cook. We both wanted to go for a ride but felt we wanted about 1hr in one and not the 20 mins they offered for $150NZ (about 65 pounds). So we decided we would have to learn to fly them! Or have friends that own one (anyone???).
