Christmas Day! Merry Christmas!

We had a nice long lie in on Christmas Day mostly because we were out till 2:30 that morning. I had a nice long chat with my Dad when I got up and it was very good to hear a friendly voice. When we left our place we had a wonder around our street which has lots of posh shopping but ended up in a nice Italian restaurant for lunch, after much discussion on where to go. Hotels were offering the full works but for a price and it wouldn't be the same as home cooking. Some of you out there must think, why would they go to an Italian when they're in Asia? Well being in a very cosmopolitan city of nearly 2 million restaurants like that are almost easier to find than local grub. And if they've adoped a western(ish) culture in their countries it would be missing how they live their lives to avoid places like that or Starbucks, which we had a coffee in after lunch. After coffee and a bit of mall browsing, where we got wine for dinner, we came back to our rooms for a rest before that evening. Sarah spoke to her parents which she was really pleased about although sad not to be there with them, and when speaking to her brother & sister in law later on, heard her niece Phoebe sing Jingle Bells in the background but with new words of Jingle Bells Daddy smells !

The hostel here: http://www.thehavenkl.com/ had been saying that they'd have a christmas party but we weren't really expecting much. When we came down from our room though we saw turkey, beef, potatoes, stuffing, gravey, dessert, canape's, the whole lot. Upon request, I started carving the Turkey and when half way done and making sure I was getting all the good bits I was told not to be too picky as there was another turkey on its way! If that weren't enough they also opened up the fridge and made the usually $2 a can beers free! We enjoyed too much food, desert, wine, beer with a mix of Aussies, Canucks, a Brazilian, a Finn and one of the Malaysian owners. It was great. We ended the night playing fooseball(table football) and wearing santa hats. Again it was a late one and got under the covers late again at about 1am. Also in the evening I spoke to my mom which helped put a big smile on my face.

So far today, boxing day, we've done very little. I browsed an IT mall far a few hours. We watched The Simpsons movie, pottered around on the internet and just recharged our batteries. Tonight at 10pm we leave KL on a night train to Singapore. More shopping and IT malls before we head for OZ on the 30th.

Hope all of you reading this had a great Christmas and you'll hear from us again soon.
