More Island Beaches - Ko Lanta

Sailing from Ko Phi Phi from Ko Lanta, yesterday the 15th, was an easy 1.5hour trip with bright sun and smooth seas. Though it took that long when we arrived we were surprised to see that we could see the island that we just came from. While on the boat there were many touts trying to get you to stay in their hotels and were quite persuasive as they were armed with photo books and real pictures rather than glossy brochures. One, located on the area of the island that we wanted to be, offered us a free ride to come have a look though we told him it was over our budget. Free ride taken and expensive room turned down we wandered down our new stretch of beach that is beautifully long and clean though the sand not as golden nor the water as turquoise as others. 300 meters down the beach from our original prospect we found sufficient suitibly priced shelter and dumped our things. This island is quite different from Ko Phi Phi as this has a older less party oriented crowd that suits us fine. There have been a number of parents playing with their naked babies in the mellow surf that are quite fun to watch. So that you don't think it's all sun and palm trees here there was pounding rain and close lightning yesterday. It was only 2 bursts each 30 min long but wet just the same. So far we've just been spending time at the beach but Sarah is planning on doing a cooking course and maybe we'll go for a bit of a wander around the island tomorrow. We're definitly happier to spend some time here as it's less hectic and less expensive though less developed than the other islands we've been to so far.
