Thursday Dec 6th we had a lazy morning of interneting and packing before heading out into town. As we'd seen all that we wanted, we spent some time walking around the city, sat in the park for a bit and bought Sarah some new flip flops too. At 19:30 we boarded an overnight sleeper train heading for the peninsular south. After a long game of cards the train attendant came and made our seats into beds and we were quickly off to sleep. I woke at 3am and knowing that we should be at our stop at 3:45 I didn't make much effort to go back to sleep. Again though the train was late and we didn't arrive until nearly 4:45. Oh well, I'll just catch some of that sleep up on the 1:45hr boat ride we have next to an island called Ko Tao. Unfortunately with a strong offshore wind generating around 1m rollers there was no sleep to be had. The catamaran was pitching at least 30 degrees to each side if not more and many lunches, or breakfasts, were lost that morning, proudly though I say not mine but Sarah's stomach didn't make the whole journey intact.
Arriving on the island we could see it was a beauty. Long narrow beach with crystal clear turquoise colored water and palms hanging over the beach, wow. We spent the next three nights rotating from swimming in the sea, eating, and lounging. We were even able to watch Saturdays Manchester United match live! Three days done though and we decided that we couldn't live this lovely island life for too long, as it was getting expensive, and took the Monday morning boat back to the mainland. Sarah had a bit of trepidation getting on the boat but with calm winds and smooth seas there was nothing to worry about. Off the boat and into a van for a 4.5 hour drive to our next destination, Krabi. We've only just woken up here this morning and are catching up on things. Hope this finds you all well in the run up to Christmas - Sarah is missing the Christmas feeling - the parties, decorations and spirit everyone shares as it may aswell be June to us here.
