Slinging in Singapore - Day 2

What Sarah didn't mention about my trips to the IT malls the previous day was the ridiculous quantity and high spec of the stuff that they have. It's not just camera's, laptops, and a few Nintendo's. It's all the pieces that you'd need to build a computer from scratch and not only that it's all the top of the line stuff. Needless to say I walked back with a big grin on my face and luckily no receipts in my pocket.

Moving along, Day 2 in Singapore we both woke and felt as if we had our best sleep ever. Given we were in a dorm of 12 people it was amazing. Sarah had a brief wake at 5am to hear the mosque but quickly put her earplugs in and was off again. When we finally woke we got a good start on the day and headed south to a tiny island just off Singapore called Sentosa. Now Sentosa isn't the idyllic tropical island you may be thinking but more of a Disneyland type experience. They have shipped in the finest sand to make the beaches, there are kiddy wading pools just off the beach and restaurants everywhere. If you lived in the city though and wanted a quick and easy getaway ,it only took us about 30 min to get there, it might just be your kind of place, especially if you had kids. The downside though is that the body of water just off it is a major shipping channel so while you're on the nice sandy beaches you see all kinds of huge container ships and oil tankers passing in the distance.

We had a nice walk around though in the quite hot sun and did one of the rides which was like a downhill go-kart with no engine. We went up on a ski chairlift with our "luges" and then sped down a twisty concrete track. Sarah really impressed me with her cart racing skills and was overtaking young boys at a rapid pace!

After a long day in the sun we headed back but stopped at the supermarket to get some pasta, sauce, and a few bevies to have at our hostel. It was nice not eating out but sharingh a kitchen is always a pain. After diner more fooseball and then we settled into a movie before enjoying another peaceful nights sleep.
