Wat Wat Wat Wat

To the left here is Phimeanakas
We were up at 8am to head to the Wat's, we paid $20 each for entry to the Wat's for one day and decided to take the smaller of the two tours as we didn't want to rush. The first Wat Banteay Kdei, was stunning, even though most of the Wats are in the condition of ruins you can imagine what they would have looked like in their hay day back in the 12th and 13th century.
We also visited the Ta Prohm which was being repaired, then the walled city of Angkor Thom - which housed the Palace and its surrounding towers, Bayon and other smaller temples and finally Angkor Wat - the most famous and religious of them all.
If you would like to look at more info, this is a good website. ttp://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtemples.htm
The carvings on the buildings and stone pillars were amazing, the level of detail is inspiring. Its also very interesting to see how well in general they are still in good condition given their age and that they were undiscovered for hundreds of years, left to become overgrown and lost amongst the forests.
The area surrounding each Wat and the whole area is beautiful, lakes and trees abound. Below are a couple of examples of the beauty of the place. The black and white picture is the gate to the walled city,

Above to the right here is Angkor Wat.

We took 150 pictures here using different filter options and angles, and we will be happy to arrange an evening slide show (with commentary!!) for anyone that would like it.
